Their freedom

Those of you who have seen some of the batshit crazy suggestions for laws to be created/repealed on the Your Freedom website might be surprised to hear that the first idea to be categorically ruled out by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg is an amendment to the smoking ban.

Nick Clegg is, of course, a Liberal Democrat.

Allowing someone to set up a smoking club on their own property, which clearly sign-posts itself as a smoking club and doesn't force nonsmokers to enter is a liberal thing to do.

The whole Your Freedom exercise is supposed to be an exercise in direct democracy.

So if Mr Clegg is neither a liberal nor a democrat, what can we call him?

Dick Puddlecote and Leg-Iron have some suggestions...

I've been reading and 5 starring many of the 'smoking' posts, not much there that has not been mentioned on the blogs. The very best that might be hoped for would be legalised 'smoking joints' but I'm not holding my breath.

The ban cannot be repealed in the current climate. Politicians of any persuasion will toe the eugenics-driven Public Health line. Politicians are “advised” that to repeal the law will undo decades of “excellent” work of denormalizing smoking/smokers. Remember that governments have pumped large amounts of funds into smoking/smoker denormalization and have allowed an ever-expanding “Health” (Eugenics) bureaucracy to flourish. Politicians are told that they are part of history-making, the world so close to eradicating the “dirty”, “filthy” smoking habit.

The key is recognizing that much of contemporary Public Health is attempted eugenics (applied biology). Being materialist, it has no coherent psychological, social, and moral dimensions. The bureaucracy runs on propaganda (an assault on mental health) – a sort of Ministry of Truth - to accomplish its questionable goals. Individual autonomy is being assailed, replaced with manipulations to Statism (e.g., industrial socialism). Individuals are servants of the State and should simply do as they are told - or suffer the consequences.

Those in Public Health have been trained in Public Health courses. They all speak the same language. They have been trained that a materialist (eugenics) version of health trumps all; they have access to everything in their quest for “public health”. These people have no training in political systems. They do not comprehend – literally - that their version of “health” is an affront to the idea of relatively free societies. The way they conduct studies, the themes of studies, the requirement of indicating policy ramifications of the studies, all has the intent of inflicting greater and greater control over the populace (herd). Nowhere in their surmising is there the idea that they need to work within the boundaries of particular socio-political systems.

Strange that neither Clegg or Cameron bothered to vote for banning smoking in pubs.

Clegg voted for it! And he's a smoker. That's one turkey that voted for Christmas.
