This isn't as silly as it sounds. A casual cigar smoker now can go into a shop, look along the shelf and say "I think I'll try a tin of Cafe Creme today." If there's nothing on display how can he choose? (Naturally, I know the righteous don't want him to be able to choose and so make it too much bother to buy anything.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585028625507474093.post-52618639568475304882010-11-18T05:53:29.528+00:002010-11-18T05:53:29.528+00:00"The tobacco industry has tried to scare smal..."The tobacco industry has tried to scare small shopkeepers into campaigning on their behalf, using them as a human shield," Dockrell said.

"HUMAN SHIELD"?!" That's a new one! So, business owners are being thrown in the way by the tobacco industry to be rendered civilian casualties?

"I'm sorry about mugging that guy, officer, but he's really the innocent victim in all of this because I really wanted to rob the bank that he withdrew the money from. But the bank has good security, while this guy has none. So, I then had no choice but to beat up this poor fellow in the bank parking lot and steal his money. I wouldn't have had to hurt him if he hadn't fought back. I just wanted the money and that evil, greedy bank set this guy up by enticing him with their money to do business with them. He was so enticed, in fact, that he defended himself when I tried by force to take the bank's money off of him."

Is there any difference between this scenario and Dockrell's claim that the tobacco industry is using "shopkeepers...as a human shield"?

-WSAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
