When I got to the bottom I wondered why he didn't attempt a proper refutation of what the Senator said, choosing instead to just write a haphazard tract which a spotty ten angst undergrad would be ashamed to submit.

Then the penny dropped - he was really hacked off that the Senator had spoken the truth, so simple Simon's red mist-o-meter descended to cloud his {cough} obvious intellect.

Note also - from someone who ridicules slippery slope arguments - one of the most contrived and absurd slippery slope arguments ever seen, and - from someone who uses the mantra "anecdote is not anecdata" against e-cigs - his use of an anecdote as his triumphant denouement.

I'm loving his unthinking kneejerk responses recently, narcissism coupled with his over-promoted incompetence for a common vandal makes for great entertainment. :)Dick Puddlecotehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01481866882188932892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585028625507474093.post-46164772313792795022014-10-03T18:43:44.688+01:002014-10-03T18:43:44.688+01:00You missed a point:

Most profits are expatriated to international shareholders."

Chapman is talking about profits and not taxation, which also has nothing to do with what the senator was talking about.Junican https://www.blogger.com/profile/03405543859782362078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585028625507474093.post-55559946658615238302014-10-03T13:22:00.703+01:002014-10-03T13:22:00.703+01:00Interviewer: Professor Chapman, what do you make o...Interviewer: Professor Chapman, what do you make of David Leyonhjelm’s presentation to the Senate?

Crapman: Well, he’s obviously an errand boy for evil Big Tobacco.

Interviewer: But Mr. Leyonhjelm doesn’t mention Big Tobacco. He refers to the large discrepancy between what the government claims are smokers’ extra cost to society and the amount collected by government through tobacco sales.

Crapman: Ahh! You’ve been duped. That’s not surprising. That’s what Layonmelj wants you to believe. I can tell you that the Nazis also wanted to sell work-wear to the gardeners. But they weren’t side-tracked by spurious arguments. Smokers just keep coughing. Did I mention that Big Tobacco is evil? What was the question again?

Interviewer: But Mr. Leyonhjelm doesn’t mention Big Tobacco. He refers to the large discrepancy between what the government claims of smokers’ extra cost to society and the amount collected by government through tobacco sales.

Crapman: That’s right. I’ve said many a time that you can lead a squirrel to nuts but you can’t make him sunbake. That’s where the problem has always been with Big Tobacco. Even squirrels can tell you that. Now if Layhome wants to align himself with an evil entity that people like me are always trying to battle, that’s where the asphalt hits the airplane…. where the taco stand hits the library.

Interviewer: Professor Chapman, but what about the extraordinarily large amount of tax charged on tobacco?

Crapman: Surely you jest? Am I on a comedy show? If Big Tobacco….. which is evil, by the way, ever heard of coughing seagulls, then how could smokers, who also cough away, be accommodated in society. Tax is a way of elucidating the magnificence of sunny days. Big Tobacco can’t stand this. And errand boys that simply acquiesce to the shenanigans of Big Tobacco…… and make no mistake….. Big Tobacco is evil….. then Big Tobacco would simply sit back and allow the manta rays to dominate the canteen. It can’t be put clearer or more simply than that. This should be obvious to anyone that has half a brain. But Lauhelmoj doesn’t even seem to have a sixth of a brain. Now am I right?

Interviewer: Thank you, Professor Chapman.

The ABC: Bravo!! Bravo!!! Well done, Professor Chapman. Encore! [whistle] [whistle]JohnBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05165051324276559561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585028625507474093.post-70207288768782073112014-10-03T10:03:18.836+01:002014-10-03T10:03:18.836+01:00I am surprised that the BBC has not commissioned C...I am surprised that the BBC has not commissioned Chapman to produce his own series. His output would be a good fit on an intellectual level and might prove significantly more amusing than what the corporation considers to be comedy these days.
